Now it is official – the transfer of Laurent Koscielny to French side Bordeaux has gone through and the experienced defender will return back home for the final stretches of his career.

Koscielny has been a part of the Gunners’ family for nine years and has made 353 appearances for the London team, scoring 27 goals and assisting further five along the way.

He joined the Gunners from Lorient in 2010 and has since lifted the Emirates FA Cup back in 2014, 2015 and finally, two years ago, in 2017, making his stint in England quite successful.

And now that his transfer has been confirmed, various Arsenal stars have taken to Instagram to wish him all the best.

Alexandre Lacazette was among the first ones there, stating how it was a real pleasure to play alongside him.

But he wasn’t the only one as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nacho Monreal did the same thing.

And just earlier, the experienced Frenchman has also taken to social media to send his fans a heartfelt message upon leaving the club after a long spell.

Still, as the official statement confirmed, he was entering the final year of his contract so this was a sensible move for both parties involved.

Aston Villa succumbed to defeat on their Premier League return after a trio of late strikes secured all three points for Tottenham Hotspur.

Dean Smith’s men took an early lead through John McGinn and looked resolute for the best part of an hour before an onslaught came, spearheaded by summer signing Tanguy Ndombele’s precise effort from range.

Harry Kane then put the game to bed with a quick-fire three-minute brace in the closing minutes of the match.

Despite the defeat, the overall performance bodes well for the remainder of the season and there’s certainly cause for optimism for Villa.

In defence, Tyrone Mings continued on from last season’s exploits and his partner next to him, Bjorn Engels, looked as if he had been playing in the Premier League for years. Engels was particularly strong in the air and kept England’s main man quiet until the 86th minute, winning three aerial duels.

Conor Hourihane deputised in defensive midfield due to Douglas Luiz’s late arrival to England through work permit issues. That is one area that is likely to change despite the 28-year-old’s encouraging showing.

He recorded a rating of 7.1 which is good considering Villa were defeated 3-1 but delving deeper into his performance you’ll see he only attempted three of their 40 tackles in the match, failed to win any aerial duels and managed just two of their 25 blocks.

Luiz cost the club £15m from Premier League champions Manchester City, a potential sign of his pedigree, so he certainly wasn’t brought in to keep the bench warm. He could play a huge part this season once he is up to the necessary match fitness levels.

The Brazil under-23 captain managed to play the final eight minutes and made his presence known – recording the same amount of blocks as Hourihane in just a fraction of the time.

The former City man will bring an element of class to Villa’s midfield – one that will be able to match most of their opposite numbers in the top-flight if his performances for Girona last season are anything to go by.

Luiz recorded a 90.7% passing accuracy rate against Real Madrid last term, making three clearances, one interception and won 100% of his tackles.

He also outperformed Hourihane in most defensive facets of the game, playing in the Spanish top-flight in comparison to his midfield counterpart in the Championship.

The 21-year-old won more aerial duels per game at 1.1 with the Englishman managing just 0.7 per game.

The 5 foot 9 midfielder also averaged more interceptions per game at 0.9 compared to Hourihane’s 0.4 and tackles per game but only just at 1.5 with the 28-year-old a fraction less at 1.4.

وبحسب الصحيفة الألمانية قد يكون جناح بايرن ميونخ، كينجسلي كومان، هو القادم ويرحل بنفس طريقة ألابا، حيث ينتهي عقده مع العملاق البافاري في يونيو 2023 ومفاوضات التمديد لا تتقدم رغم رغبة المسئولين.

ويعمل بايرن ميونخ في الوقت الحالي على تجديد عقود ثلاثة لاعبي هم: ليون جوريتسكا، جوشوا كيميتش بالإضافة إلى كينجسلي كومان.

الأولوية أمام بايرن ميونخ هي التمديد لعقد جوريتسكا الذي ينتهي في يونيو 2022، ويريد مسئولو النادي الألماني حسم الأمر قبل نهاية الموسم الحالي لمنعه من المغادرة مجانًا بعد نهاية الموسم المقبل.

المفاوضات بين بايرن ميونخ وجوريتسكا وكيميتش تسير بشكل جيد، لكنها عكس ذلك مع كومان، الذي يرغب في تقدير مالي أفضل مما عرض عليه النادي الألماني حيث يعتبر الفرنسي من الفئة المتوسطة في الرواتب السنوية.

The only thing Jurgen Klopp probably wishes had have gone better is the Community Shield clash with Manchester City just before the rollercoaster of the new season started. But that defeat probably doesn’t hurt as much, anyway.

Mohamed Salah also seems ready and motivated for the new season as the Egyptian has already got one goal and one assist under his belt in the two games he played in the Premier League.

After six long years playing for the Merseyside club, Daniel Sturridge has left Anfield and embarked on an entirely different journey.

Liverpool will definitely be a big part of his career, considering he played a total of 160 games for the Reds, scoring 68 goals and tallying 26 assists under his belt in the process.

But after being officially released by the club during the summer, Sturridge has now completed a move to Trabzonspor in Turkey.

He quickly thanked all the fans for the reception and the love they have already shown him in these first days at the club.

It’ll be interesting to see whether Sturridge can help them reach the top once again.

راموس لديه عقد مع ريال مدريد، ينتهي في نهاية الموسم الجاري، في 30 يونيو 2021.

أزمة راموس تتمثل في رغبة النادي خفض راتب راموس، مليوني يورو، حيث يتقاضى النجم الإسباني 12 مليون يورو، بينما ريال مدريد يريد التجديد له مقابل 10 ملايين يورو، وهو ما يرفضه قائد النادي الملكي.

وأوضحت الشبكة أنّه رغم تقدم راموس في العمر، حيث سيصل لـ عامه الـ”35″ في مارس القادم، إلا أنّ زيزو يرى أنّ الإسباني، لا غنى عنه، وطالب باستمراره مع النادي الملكي.

It was a bit of a baptism of fire for Sims. His first game was against the Red Bulls’ fiercest rivals, NYCFC, who also happen to be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.

Sims was one the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat, but despite the fact he got off to a losing start he made it very clear on social media that he enjoyed the game and he’s looking forward to the next one.

Exactly 832 days since he last featured for Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, James Rodriguez once again set foot on the holy ground of Los Blancos, in front of a roaring crowd and on the big maiden game for the team in their own backyard.

The 2019/20 season started off quite nicely, Real Madrid beat a difficult opponent away from home in Vigo with a 3-1 scoreline, Zinedine Zidane seemed to have found his groove once again and the team was ticking like in the days of triple Champions League crowns.

Granted, many were quick to point out that with the return of Zidane’s old tricks, the team suffered from the very same issues and mistakes that came back along with the Frenchman’s (re)appointment. But not all was bleak as for the first time since 2017, Rodriguez would don the white kit and dance in front of the Galactico fans in the Spanish capital.

And what a “debut” it was. The little Colombian was among the best performers on the pitch, combining well with the other outcast, Gareth Bale, and constantly moving around the field. The play seemed to very much revolve around him and he loved every second of it.

He tallied two key passes and 87.5% passing accuracy from his main position, just behind the striker. Some 57 minutes after the start of the game, he was taken off before he could give Real Madrid any more palpable results with his performance.

But the crowd were quick to notice his efforts and the 28-year-old was given a standing ovation as he exited the pitch, similarly like two times before: once when they thought the Colombian had played his last ever game for the team back in the season 2016/17 and once when he returned to face the Whites with Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals.

There was no doubt back then and there seems to be none right now: James is very much a fan favourite, regardless of the fact if he’s donning the white, red or any other colour for that matter. So why are Real Madrid still not sure what to do with their little gem?

Rodriguez was reportedly even on the table when Florentino Perez was still trying really hard to secure the services of Neymar Junior from PSG. Clearly, if that report is to be believed, he doesn’t have much faith in the Colombian. But is that really warranted?

Rodriguez has been nothing short of brilliant during the majority of his time spent at the Santiago Bernabeu. In his 112 games he played for the Whites, he managed to score 36 goals and assist further 40 in the process. Clearly, there is a lot of quality here to be used.

He showed as much in Bayern Munich as well where he netted an almost equally impressive 15 goals and 20 assists in 67 matches played. Colombia would also gladly attest to his skills.

With 28 years already on his back, he’s got a decent amount of experience in his boots and 76 caps won for his national team. He’s been to the World Cup and he’s been to the Copa America. The big stage is no stranger to him.

And best of all, this is the perfect time for him to go out there and claim a spot in the team. Sure, there are a lot of talented players waiting in line at Real Madrid but now that he’s back and with a point to prove, the stage is his to take.

This would’ve been even more true if he hadn’t gotten injured, just like half of the Real Madrid squad at the moment, as it seems. But he won’t be out for too long and with Los Blancos’ ranks somewhat depleted at the moment, his chances of success are still big enough.

The crowd is seemingly behind him, he’s got the skills, Real Madrid are in dire need of something new and something different and he is in need of a permanent home. The pieces are slowly falling into place but he will definitely have to convince Zidane that he’s worthy of keeping a spot in his starting XI of Galaticos.

Luckily, he is quite versatile and can play virtually anywhere in the forward line bar the centre-forward position and that makes him highly valuable, especially in this hour of need when Real Madrid have more attackers in the hospital than in the squad.

But the best way to innovate would definitely be to try something new, different and exciting. At this moment, for better or worse, Rodriguez just might be Real Madrid’s best bet.
