One such ace was Junior Firpo, a newcomer to the team that was finally given a chance in the side.

With that game against Celta Vigo, the young full-back now has a total of just 324 minutes under his belt.

But needless to say, he embraced this opportunity with both hands and fully repaid Valverde’s trust.

Many Barcelona fans swarmed Twitter with their messages of support for the young defender and simply showered him with praise.

One fan even compared Firpo to Eric Abidal, a Blaugrana icon from back in the day, and there were even shouts of him starting ahead of Jordi Alba.

تابع: “المفاجأة أن الزمالك قدم تظلم ضد عقوبات قمة الناشئين ولم يدرج اسم إمام عاشور في التظلم”.

اختتم: “لجنة التظلمات قررت إصدار القرار النهائي في أزمة ربيع ياسين مدرب منتخب الشباب يوم 16 مايو الجاري عقب إجازة عيد الفطر بعد بحث كل حيثيات الأزمة حيث تلقينا مستندات جديدة”.

What a victory it was for England against Montenegro on Thursday.

On a day of celebration for the Three Lions – it was their 1000th game – Gareth Southgate’s side were in irresistible form. They beat the Balkan nation 7-0, with Harry Kane scoring a hat-trick in the process.

Also on the scoresheet was Liverpool’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. It was the first time since June 2017 that he had bagged for his country, and it come on his first start in 19 months at international level. It is fair to say that he took advantage of the opportunity his boss gave him at Wembley.

The goal will be the main talking point, of course, but there was plenty more to savour about this performance.

Impressively, he scored with his only shot of the match, but he contributed more from a creative point of view. Only Ben Chilwell – the Man of the Match – made more chances for his teammates than the former Arsenal man’s three. On top of that, he completed two of the three dribbles he attempted, whilst he landed an impressive 88% of his attempted passes.

Defensively, he made his mark as well, winning two tackles and completing two interceptions. Considering this was his first start in such a while at this level, it was an outstanding display from the 26-year-old.

Those watching on will have been happy to see the former Southampton man do so well, but it would have been interesting to get Jordan Henderson’s thoughts. The 29-year-old was suspended for this match, with Oxlade-Chamberlain effectively taking his place in centre-midfield.

His strike was his fifth goal of the season, whilst he also won Liverpool’s Player of the Month award for October. Henderson, meanwhile, continues to be criticised by part of the Anfield faithful and has picked up a Premier League WhoScored rating of just 6.85 this campaign.

The captaincy does work in his favour, but this run of form will surely have the midfielder – who was signed by the Reds for £20m in 2011 – scared of losing his place not just at club level, but internationally as well. Now back to full fitness, Oxlade-Chamberlain is beginning to hit his stride and should be worrying his club captain.

According to Turkish-Football, Liverpool have entered the race to sign Ugurcan Cakir.

What’s the story?

Jurgen Klopp currently has two goalkeepers at his disposal. Brazil international Alisson is the number one, whilst Adrian is his back-up.

Now, it appears as though the 52-year-old is looking to add a third option to his arsenal, at least according to his agent.

Engin Kirkpinar, Cakir’s representative, told the website:

“Liverpool are one of four English sides keeping close tabs on Ugurcan. Liverpool are among the sides interested in Cakir and have been monitoring his progress. Trabzonspor value Cakir as being worth a minimum €20m (£17.1m) and will not sell him in January. An end of season move could however, be on the cards.”

Great signing

Since signing from West Ham, Adrian has done well. With former Roma goalkeeper Alisson out of action towards the start of the season, the 32-year-old has made 11 appearances in all competitions, keeping two clean sheets, whilst he was the hero in the UEFA Super Cup final against Chelsea after saving Tammy Abraham’s penalty in the shoot-out.

Having said that, Cakir’s arrival would be a boost to Klopp’s options and depth in the ‘keeper department. During this campaign, Adrian has a save percentage of 66.7%. That only puts him in 14th place on the list of all the shot-stoppers to appear in the Premier League this season.

Cakir, meanwhile, has managed 75.5% for current club Trabzonspor in the Super Lig. Not only does that put him in fourth place in the Turkish top flight, but it would also put him in the same position in the Premier League.

Also, at 23 years old, he has his whole career ahead of him, whilst Adrian is approaching the end of his. Cakir has been recognised at international level as well, having picked up two caps for Turkey. He has conceded just one goal in those two matches.

With a potential price tag of just £17.1m, this transfer would be a shrewd bit of business from Liverpool, and would show their desire to plan for the future. The supporters should hope they beat those three other clubs to his signature.

Dejan Lovren was strongly linked with a move away from Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

And he did not actually make his first Premier League appearance of the season until the clash with Leicester City at the start of October.

Joel Matip’s injury has opened the door for the Croatia international, though, and the centre-back has now started and finished Liverpool’s last four league matches.

All four of those appearances have ended in wins – Liverpool dispatching Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Crystal Palace.

It has been some turnaround for a player who looked destined to leave Anfield over the summer, and many of the Merseyside club’s supporters have been keen to pay tribute to the 2018 World Cup finalist for his recent form.

It remains to be seen what happens when Matip returns to fitness, but Lovren’s performances in recent weeks have impressed the Liverpool supporters.

وفي الشوط الثاني من المباراة، سجّل سيرجي جنابري، الهدف الثاني لـ بايرن في الدقيقة 51، ولكن تم إلغاءه بعد العودة إلى تقنية الفيديو، وبعد دقيقتين، تمكن ساني من إحراز الهدف الثاني بأسيست من مولر.

وقبل نهاية المباراة، بتسع دقائق، تمكن أصحاب الأرض، من العودة في النتيجة، بإحراز هدف التعادل، عبر كريستيان جونتر بالدقيقة 81.

According to Sky Sports News, Marco Silva will still be Everton manager by the time Sunday’s Premier League clash with Leicester City rolls around.

There has been a host of speculation surrounding the Portuguese since Everton suffered a shock 2-0 home defeat to Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

However, The Mirror have claimed that a lack of a suitable replacement means that the Toffees are currently reluctant to pull the trigger.

Sky Sports News have now reported that there will be no change before the Merseyside giants take on an in-form Leicester this weekend.

Four wins, two draws and seven defeats is how the Toffees have performed in the Premier League this season, which has left them in 16th spot in the table.
