Continuo me dedicando. A gente se dedica, em primeiro lugar para Deus e, depois, para um clube que tem uma história formidável como o Cruzeiro – finalizou Ceará.

Carlo Ancelotti right to send Everton’s Bernard to Roma

Carlo Ancelotti’s ruthless overhaul is right to include Bernard as Everton entertain the idea of sending the Brazilian playmaker to Serie A heavyweights AS Roma on a one-season loan.

What’s the word?

According to The Telegraph (5/10, 16:52), Everton are in talks with Roma over a potential loan deal for Bernard that would see the 29-year-old join the Giallorossi for the 2020/21 season after being deemed surplus to requirements by Ancelotti.

The Italian tactician is utilising every last second of the summer transfer window to clear out the deadwood at Goodison Park, as he sees no role for Bernard to play in his future plans as the Brazilian gets shown the door alongside the Southampton-bound Theo Walcott.

Bernard has played just two Carabao Cup fixtures for the Toffees this term and been left an unused substitute in each of the Merseyside outfit’s Premier League matches whilst they begin the campaign unbeaten across all competitions after seven games.

Ancelotti has previously been full of praise for Bernard, but noted back in August how he struggles to see how the former Shakhtar Donetsk man impacts fixtures that Everton are not dominating.

“He is really good with the ball and he did really well against Crystal Palace where he scored the first goal,” the former Chelsea boss said, via quotes by the Liverpool Echo.

“When the game is in balance, it is more difficult for him to prove his quality. When we have control of the game, for him it is easier for him to prove his quality. Maybe for this reason, I put him [in the team] at home and not away.”

Right to send Bernard to Rome

While Bernard is a fan favourite at Goodison Park and shares a mutual love for the supporters, Ancelotti is completely right to be seeking an option that would send the 29-year-old away from Merseyside before the summer window slams shut.

Beyond not featuring in the Blues’ Premier League efforts so far this season, Bernard had little to no impact on their top-flight performances last term with just one assist and one goal from 16 appearances following Ancelotti’s arrival – last coming in February.

The £14.4m-rated midfielder boasted a greater impact during Marco Silva’s tenure in 2019/20 with two goals and an assist, but his end of term statistics still showed a player who managed just 0.3 shots and 0.9 key balls each top-flight game, per SofaScore.

He also managed just 1.1 successful dribbles per league match, won just 39% of his duels, lost possession 9.3 times and delivered just 0.2 accurate crosses. All the while, Bernard was being paid £120,000-per-week as Everton’s joint-highest earner.

AND in other news, Carlo Ancelotti’s backing has piled on the pressure for a £14.4m-rated Everton man to step up after a rare start.

West Ham timed Javier Hernandez exit perfectly amid LA Galaxy plight

West Ham United brought Javier Hernandez back to the Premier League in 2017 for £16million, but failed to see value for money in the Mexican before selling the striker to Sevilla two years later.

Hernandez had arrived at the London Stadium as Slaven Bilic sought to build a side capable of climbing back inside the top-half of the table following an 11th place finish, having already welcomed Marko Arnautovic and Joe Hart to the club.

A poor start to the season ultimately led to Bilic being sacked that November and replaced by David Moyes, but the change in leadership failed to inspire Hernandez to thrive in front of the net as he ended his debut campaign with just eight goals in all competitions.

Another change at the helm saw Manuel Pellegrini hired to replace Moyes but the Chilean likewise failed to spark a fire under the Mexican, who could not improve his numbers across the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup whilst seeing his starts reduce to a mere 17 games.

Yet unlike with Hernandez’s form, West Ham improved to climb up the Premier League standings to avoid a third season in succession of regression, and the decision was made to cash in amid interest from Sevilla in the summer of 2019.

The deal to sell Chicharito to the La Liga outfit saw the Irons lose almost £10m in transfer fees alone, with the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium natives paying just £7.2m for a player the Hammers had awarded a £140,000-per-week contract to, totalling £15.4m over his 110 weeks under contract.

The heavy hit to the accounts after a tepid record of 17 goals in 63 games for West Ham was proven right by Hernandez’s struggles in Spain, with the striker managing to fire home just three times before the Andalusian outfit agreed a deal with LA Galaxy worth $10m (£8m) in January.

Struggles have persisted in the 109-cap international’s game since moving to Major League Soccer, though, with Hernandez managing just one goal in 692 minutes of action to date while ostracising himself from the dressing room.

ESPN journalist Diego Cora reports Hernandez only speaks with players of his own nationality, likely just Jonathan dos Santos, while their fellow Galaxy teammates feel the 32-year-old considers himself to be a megastar.

“The players look at him from the side and he thinks he’s a megastar,” Cora said.

“When I was in Leverkusen, I had to cover him once, and many around the club said he was an ‘ego man’. In West Ham, they told me something similar and now the same thing. One of his teammates says that he thinks he is Cristiano Ronaldo.”

West Ham’s decision to accept a £24.2m hit for Hernandez would have been a hard pill to swallow, but the perfectly-timed deal with Sevilla removed a negative stimulus from the dressing room and one that has not flourished since securing pastures new.

AND in other news, West Ham won’t be missing a £22.5m-rated man after his summer transfer after a forlorn debut with his new side.

James Rodriguez wants Tottenham Hotspur’s Davinson Sanchez at Everton

Carlo Ancelotti must be cautious in any efforts to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez amid reports James Rodriguez wants his compatriot to join him at Everton.

What’s the word?

According to Don Balon, Rodriguez would like to see the Goodison Park outfit pursue a potential deal for Sanchez to move to Merseyside and take their Colombian contingent up to three.

It is understood Rodriguez has discussed the potential move with Blues boss Ancelotti, who gave the midfielder the green light to argue the benefits of life at Everton with Sanchez while the pair shared a dressing room with fellow Toffees ace Yerry Mina during the October internationals.

Rodriguez joined Premier League leaders Everton from Real Madrid this summer in a deal reportedly worth between £12m and £20million, though also claimed to be free by his former side Banfield, and he has already proven his worth with three goals and three assists in six Premier League appearances.

Sanchez is a key aspect of Jose Mourinho’s backline at Spurs, with the Portuguese tactician favouring the 24-year-old in four top-flight starting line-ups and all three of the north London side’s Europa League qualifying ties.

A deal to lure the Caloto-born centre-half away from Tottenham would not come cheap, as it is claimed Everton would be willing to pay €45m (£40.6m) for the imposing colossus to up their Colombian contingent and recreate the international unit on Merseyside.

Rodriguez has “spoken wonders” of Everton and the coaching staff at Goodison Park in the hopes of convincing Sanchez of a move, but the Spurs man intends to wait until the end of the season before deciding on his future in order to see if Mourinho can secure any success.

Ancelotti must tread carefully

While Don Balon claim Ancelotti gave Rodriguez the green light to argue the benefits of life at Everton, the Italian would be wise to tread carefully in any pursuit of the Tottenham defender, especially at the £40.6m figure touted.

Sanchez has frequently been the subject of criticism during his time in north London, with former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino of the belief Mourinho considered the centre-back to be a weak-link during the 2017 Europa League Final while in charge of Manchester United.

“I can tell you for nothing that in 2017, when Manchester United played Ajax in the Europa League final, which they won, I know before the game that Davinson Sanchez was a target for Manchester United,” Cascarino, who used to work on Dutch Football, told talkSPORT.

“That was one of the tactics that Jose used thinking he was a weakness. He’s now in the heart of the defence of Spurs. A guy that Jose obviously didn’t rate and saw as a weak-link on the night and tried to expose him and they did.”

Sanchez was sold to Spurs for a then-club-record £42m shortly after the 2017 Europa League Final and has been a regular in north London when fit since, but is yet to shrug the concerns from three years ago and would be a very expensive gamble by Everton just to appease Rodriguez.

AND in other news, Carlo Ancelotti has landed a big break but it comes as an unfortunate blow for a “talented” Everton ace.
