According to the Glasgow Times, Glasgow Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Scott Wright from Aberdeen in a move which may see Greg Stewart go in the opposite direction.

What’s the word?

Reports have emerged over the past week that Rangers are keen to land the 5 ft 7 dynamo with Steven Gerrard’s side eyeing up a pre-contract agreement for the winger.

It’s claimed the Gers could be set to propose a swap deal that would see Wright move to Ibrox and Stewart head to Pittodrie.

The Light Blues boss is believed to be an admirer of the former Scotland U21 international’s talents as he seeks to further strengthen his squad in a bid to stop Celtic from ten in a row.

Sensational swap deal?

There’s still a long way to go and a deal is far from done but one feels that if Ross Wilson can somehow pull this off, it would be an absolute steal to trade Stewart for a player of Wright’s quality.

The 30-year-old has been at Ibrox since 2019, but is yet to play a game for the club this year as he has fallen even further down the pecking order behind the likes of new arrivals Cedric Itten and Kemar Roofe.

Ahead of him, Gerrard has an abundance of attacking talent and now more strength in depth too. However, while you can’t pick many holes in Gerrard’s side, if there’s one area that needs addressing, it’s the options out wide, as back-up wingers Brandon Barker and Jordan Jones simply aren’t fit for purpose.

Between them, the pair have only contributed to three goals in all competitions and have been restricted to 16 appearances in total this season, via Transfermarkt, which implies they lack any real impetus in attack.

Wright, on the other hand, has been in such fine form for Derek McInnes’ side so far this season, having contributed to seven goals in 16 appearances across all competitions by himself, via Transfermarkt, which suggests that he’d offer far more of a threat in the final third than the aforementioned duo.

The idea of Rangers swapping a forward struggling for form, who has been heavily linked with the Ibrox exit, for a younger wide man who has been  recently described as “a very tidy player” by club legend Alex McLeish is surely a no-brainer.

From an Aberdeen perspective, we can’t get our heads around it, but Wilson should be laughing all the way to the bank if he manages to pull off this masterstroke of a deal.

O Flamengo terá novidades no time titular para o jogo contra o América-MG, nesta quarta-feira, às 21h45, em Cariacica, pela segunda rodada da Primeira Liga. No treino desta terça, fechado para a imprensa, o técnico Muricy Ramalho escalou Cuéllar, Gabriel e Everton na equipe, que não teve Willian Arão, Emerson e Marcelo Cirino. Os dois primeiros não viajaram com a delegação.

Dessa forma, o time titular no treino tático desta terça teve Paulo Victor; Rodinei, Wallace, Juan e Jorge; Márcio Araújo; Cuéllar, Mancuello, Gabriel e Everton; Guerrero. Como Arão e Sheik foram poupados pela comissão técnica, a tendência é que Cuéllar e Gabriel ou Everton comecem a partida. Cirino viajou com o elenco e, embora tenha sido poupado, deve seguir com vaga.

Antes de a atividade começar, o técnico Muricy Ramalho e outros membros da comissão técnica conversaram por cerca de 15 minutos com o elenco, que ficou sentado no centro do gramado. Em seguida, distribuiu os coletes e formou o time que pode enfrentar a equipe mineira. Tudo isso foi fechado para a imprensa, que embora a atividade estivesse marcada para 9h30, só teve acesso às 11h30. Os sócios proprietários do clube tiveram acesso normalmente.

O Galo ainda pode promover outra estreia. A Fifa deu aval para a transferência de Cazares, que era pivô de um imbróglio entre Independiente del Valle (ARG) e Banfield por seus direito econômicos, e o meia pode iniciar a partida, pois Dátolo está sem ritmo de jogo após se recuperar de lesão na coxa direita.

أكد الجنوب إفريقي بيرسي تاو لاعب النادي الأهلي، أنه كان على علم بالعديد من أسماء ومهارات لاعبي الفريق قبل الانضمام إلى صفوف القلعة الحمراء قادمًا من برايتون الإنجليزي.

وقال تاو خلال تصريحات لبرنامج “البيت الكبير” على قناة الأهلي: “واجهت بعض اللاعبين الحاليين عندما كنت في صن داونز، واجهت الأهلي من قبل وكنت أعرف لاعبيه جيدًا”.

وأضاف: “أيضًا أعرف اللاعبين القدامى في الأهلي، وهم كانوا بمثابة أساطير، ومنهم إسلام الشاطر ومحمد أبو تريكة ووائل جمعة”.

وواصل: “جمهور الأهلي أقرب إلى ناديهم، النادي يمثل لهم الكثير، وترى ذلك في تاريخ النادي مع الجماهير الذين يدعموه كثيرًا، ودائمًا يريدون الفوز والمركز الأول فقط، الجماهير تلقي علينا مسؤولية كبيرة، ولذلك علينا دائمًا أن نبذل أقصى ما لدينا”.

If things weren’t bad enough already at Celtic, their 2-2 draw with Livingston on Wednesday just about summed everything up.

Celtic did well to come back from 1-0 down but a Jay Emmanuel-Thomas equaliser on the hour mark condemned them to yet more dropped points. Furthermore, Scott Brown was sent off late in the game.

The Scot clearly hasn’t been at the races this term and this was yet another example of his foolishness. For someone that’s the club captain, he should know better.

The Hoops are enduring a horrid season and are very quickly surrendering their grasp on the SPFL title.

It doesn’t bode well that even their best performers are now failing to get the job done. That was the story for Ryan Christie who put in a dismal showing on Wednesday evening.

He has now scored just once in his last 16 outings, and after being linked with both Arsenal and Leeds, has taken his foot off the gas.

Christie came up with a golden moment in the Scottish Cup final, curling one in from long range, but beyond that, he has been poor in the last few months.

This was the nadir of his season so far, putting in a display that typified his own struggles as much as his team’s.

The Scotland international surrendered possession far too easily for Livi’s opener and it didn’t get much better for him. He lost the ball on 17 occasions throughout the match, the fifth-worst tally of anyone on the Celtic team.

Furthermore, the 25-year-old failed to provide his usual threat in the final third. He completed just one of his two crosses and didn’t manage a single dribble. Those statistics were down from his season averages of two successful crosses per game and 1.6 dribbles per match.

Writing in his post-match thoughts, David Oliver from The Scotsman said: “Not in the game nearly enough and a shadow of the Scotland hero of last year.”

Indeed, this has been a poor start to the year for Christie, someone who offered so much last term.

In 2019/20, the winger registered 20 goals and 16 assists. Clearly, this campaign has been much worse, finding the net on just four occasions.

Many of Celtic’s players are letting Lennon down at the moment, and Christie is one of the chief suspects. There needs to be a considerable improvement from their attacking dynamo.

The transfer window slammed shut on Monday evening but that hasn’t stopped Wolves from drawing up plans ahead of the summer market.

What’s the word?

According to TuttoJuve, Aaron Ramsey’s future at Juventus currently hangs in the balance.

With that in mind, it’s thought that both Tottenham and Wolves are interested in bringing the Welshman back to the Premier League.

The midfielder swapped Arsenal for Juve in 2019 but his exit from Turin is already being considered. It’s understood that a fee of around €10m-€15m (£9m-£13m) could be enough to tempt the Italian giants into selling.

Whether Wolves can afford a deal remains to be seen. Ramsey currently earns a mighty £300,000 a week so would undoubtedly have to take a wage cut.

Move over Moutinho

One of Wolves’ biggest issues this term has been their midfield. They lack mobility and they lack runners from deep.

Joao Moutinho has scored just once this season – a stunner against Arsenal – but has been miles off the pace creatively.

For someone who usually assists so regularly, he is yet to provide a solitary pass that’s led to a goal in 2020/21. It’s been a dismal campaign for the Portuguese and if you believe the words of Tim Spiers, this could be his final season as a regular in the starting XI.

Thus, the addition of Ramsey would be incredibly beneficial and it could give Nuno the ammunition to finally axe Moutinho from his plans once and for all.

The Juventus star was described as “intelligent” by Robert Pires in a recent interview, which is one of the primary attributes that defines Moutinho. Though, critically, Ramsey is a willing runner and has energy to burn in the middle of the park.

The Wales international has five goal contributions this term and unlike Moutinho, is providing assists. He has supplied 1.4 key passes for Juventus in 2020/21 compared to the 1.1 managed by Wolves’ current midfield architect.

It’s safe to say that Ramsey has come a long way since he was dominated by a Wolves midfield in the Championship. He played against them for Cardiff in the 2007/08 campaign and was on the end of a 3-0 defeat. Andy Keogh gave the midfielder and his teammates the run-around, not only assisting a goal, but also scoring himself.

Ramsey was a mere boy when that happened, and had a such a difficult day that he hooked by the Cardiff boss after just an hour in that game at Molineux. Since then, he has become a Premier League stalwart, scoring 40 top-flight goals in England and picking up 51 assists.

If the experienced midfielder can agree to a wage cut, this would be an inspired signing from Jeff Shi. With Moutinho’s performances dwindling as the months go by, it would certainly be timely.
