وأشارت التقارير الألمانية، إلى أن ماركو يحتاج لعدة أسابيع من أجل التعافي بعد التواء الكاحل، وهو ما سيجعله لن يشارك في المونديال، لعدم قدرته على العودة قبل الموعد المحدد.

ومن المنتظر أن يعلن هانزي فليك المدير الفني للمنتخب الألماني عن قائمة الماكينات للمشاركة في كأس العالم، خلال الساعات القادمة.

وغاب ماركو ريوس عن منتخب ألمانيا في كأس العالم 2014 أيضًا بسبب الإصابة، قبل أن يشارك في خيبة أمل 2018 ويشهد على خروج الماكينات من دور المجموعات في روسيا.

Leeds United reportedly now have a ‘great chance’ to sign New York City forward Valentin Castellanos in the summer.

The Lowdown: Castellanos links

The Whites have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old in recent days after the club failed to make a senior signing in the January window.

Reports have suggested that Leeds have contacted the representatives of Castellanos and are willing to pay £10.3m for the forward who has been hailed as ‘top-class’ by manager Ronny Deila.

Valued at £6.3m by Transfermarkt, the Argentine has scored 49 goals during his career and is also wanted by teams back in his native country.

Sports Witness relayed updates from two reliable Argentine sources, TyC Sports and journalist Cesar Luis Merlo in a story on Wednesday.

They suggested that River Plate’s attempts to sign Castellanos have now collapsed, with New York City now set to improve the forward’s contract before looking to sell to a club in Europe over the summer, labelling it as a ‘great chance’ for Leeds to ‘go after him’.

The Verdict: Shrewd target?

Castellanos is primarily a centre-forward who can also play on either wing and appears to be a clever target for Marcelo Bielsa’s side due to this versatility.

The Whites have struggled in front of goal without Patrick Bamford for the majority of the season, with wide man Raphinha the top scorer on eight goals.

The likes of Rodrigo and Tyler Roberts have struggled to contribute massively in terms of goals in a central area, scoring three times in the Premier League combined.

Therefore, adding more firepower in the summer could be a wise move by Victor Orta and co, and it seems as if they will have a chance to sign Castellanos in the summer – they may even already have a head start after contacting the player’s agent.

You would’ve been forgiven for being concerned for Wolves when first-choice goalkeeper Rui Patricio left the West Midlands to join AS Roma last summer for a reported figure of £9.8m.

The Black Country club eventually recruited Jose Sa from Olympiakos for £6.25m, a signing which has proven to be a masterstroke.

In the Portuguese goalkeeper’s first season in the Premier League, he has kept 11 clean sheets in 32 appearances so far, conceding just 28 goals in that space of time.

To put that figure into context, during Patricio’s time at Molineux, Sa’s fellow countryman kept 37 clean sheets in 127 appearances, conceding 151 goals – an average of a clean sheet every 3.43 games and 1.19 goals per game, compared to Sa’s 2.91 and 0.86 respectively.

The 34-year-old was a key figure for Wolves, signing for the Old Gold following their promotion to the top flight in 2018, but he has been replaced excellently with a figure who could well be number one for plenty of years to come.

Not only has Sa been an excellent recruit, but the deal to purchase him is now looking like a bargain.

To have paid just £6.25m for a goalkeeper who currently averages less than a goal conceded per game in the Premier League is astounding, especially when you consider the astronomical £71.6m fee that Chelsea paid for the error-prone Kepa Arrizabalaga in 2018.

The £17k-p/w Sa, who was hailed as “dominant” by former Molineux ‘keeper Matt Murray, has also been a major contribution to Wolves’ status as the Premier League’s fourth-best defence.

According to Transfermarkt, the goalkeeper was valued at £6.75m when Wolves signed him, making the £6.25m fee a pretty fair deal. However, after a stellar maiden campaign at Molineux, the 29-year-old has seen his value rise to £12.6m, just over double the transfer fee paid for him.

It’s a colossal increase when considering that, for the majority of Sa’s career, he has been valued at under £2.5m. If this form is to continue, then surely a first senior cap for Portugal isn’t far away.

Patricio is still the country’s number one with an impressive 102 caps for his national team but, like at Wolves, Sa could be his eventual heir in the coming years.

One thing seem certain – Bruno Lage certainly won’t be looking to change the man between the sticks for a very long time.

Speaking after the win against Watford, Leeds boss Jesse Marsch said via Leeds Live that he thinks the player might be in training this week following a little calf issue and could play against Crystal Palace.

Now, former Whites ace Noel Whelan has delivered an update on the midfielder following his own sighting of him at Thorp Arch.

Speaking to Football Insider he revealed that he saw the player at coaching last night and appeared to have a big smile on his face.

He hailed the player’s in form status and stated that Forshaw had been doing a really good job in the centre of the pitch.

Meanwhile former manager Marcelo Bielsa himself has previously admitted just how influential he can be.

He said via Yorkshire Evening Post that Forshaw is a player who has always been one of the better players on the team and defenders in a similar way to Kalvin Phillips but is also quite similar to Mateusz Klich as well.

Given the kind of injury troubles he has sadly had over the last few seasons seeing him back on the pitch has been one of the real highlight stories of a difficult campaign for Bielsa.

وواصل: “لقد سئمت من هؤلاء القادة مثل بوريس جونسون ودونالد ترامب وإنفانتينو وبلاتر، فهم لا يتسببون في الاتحاد بل الانقسام، كل لغتهم تدور حول الانقسام، رغم أنهم يعتقدون أنهم يوحدون الناس سويًا، هم ليسوا كذلك”.

وأردف: “بعض لغته أمس مثل (أنا عامل مهاجر، أنا معاق)، هي فضيحة مطلقة، لا يجب أن يستخدم هذا النوع من اللغة، لا يجب أن يستخدم هذه العبارات في رأيي”.

وأوضح: “أعتقد أن فيفا يمثل تمثيلًا ضعيفًا لماهية كرة القدم، وهي لعبة جميلة تتمتع بها المجتمعات من البرازيل إلى بيري، ومن بوليفيا إلى بيرو، إلى كل مكان، يجب أن أقول إن فيفا بحاجة إلى التوقف عن الأشياء السيئة”.

واستمر: “لقد كان الأمر سيئًا لفترة طويلة وشعوري الشخصي مع إنفانتينو هو أنه أعاد نفسه بشكل فعال إلى السلطة لمدة أربع سنوات، ولا يوجد استقلال”.

واختتم: “يجب أن يكون لدينا الاستقلال والديمقراطية، لقد اُعيد تواجده في منصبه سنوات أخرى، وأعتقد أنه أسوأ وجه يمثل الشرق الأوسط والعرب والمسلمين وكأس العالم في قطر”.

Whilst there may still be pressure on the Bhoys to get the job done and move towards a remarkable treble, the work already achieved in restoring belief by Postecoglou means that there is a quiet content amongst the ranks.

Meanwhile, despite qualifying for the Europa League semi-finals, Rangers need to achieve on the domestic front and indeed overcome Celtic in order to truly welcome their own new manager in Giovanni van Bronkhorst.
