Terry Duffin’s 193 set up Tuskers victory•Zimbabwe Cricket

Matabeleland Tuskers posted their first win of the season, overcoming Southern Rocks by six wickets in Bulawayo, to move into second spot in the Logan Cup standings. The defeat leaves Rocks at the bottom of the table, with zero points after three matches.Two of the architects of the victory were 22-year-old medium-pacer Keegan Meth, who took seven wickets in the match, and former international opener Terry Duffin, whose 193 was nearly half of Tuskers’ total in the first innings. The finishing touches to the win was provided by an unbroken 98-run stand for the fifth wicket between Steven Trenchard and Adam Wheater.Rocks were in trouble after choosing to bat, new-ball bowlers Meth and Njabulo Ncube slicing through the batting to leave them at 12 for 3 and later 124 for 6. It was 24-year-old Pakistan-born batsman Sikandar Raza who hauled them to a respectable total, making his maiden first-class century and forging substantial partnerships with Tendai Chisoro (50) and Blessing Mahwire (45) for the seventh and eighth wickets.Tuskers’ innings was a reversal, with the top half contributing and the lower order collapsing. Duffin made 193, his highest first-class score, and Gavin Ewing chipped in with 81 as Tuskers marched to 319 for 3 before offspinner Keith Kulinga and Mahwire rolled over the rest of the side. Kulinga’s 5-114 was his first five-wicket haul.The Rocks’ top order didn’t impress in the second innings as well, and it was again left to Raza to rescue them again, this time with an unbeaten 60 that lifted them to 225. Faced with the fairly small target of 176, Tuskers nearly made a mess of it, losing their top four for 78 before Trenchard and Wheater secured the victory.

Mashonaland Eagles had to fight hard to secure the first-innings lead and with that one point against Mid West Rhinos in Kwekwe. Former South African allrounder Andrew Hall’s unbeaten century from No. 6 helped Eagles fight back from 193 for 6 and clamber past Rhinos’ competitive first-innings score of 351.Sent in to bat, Rhinos slid to 98 for 5, before they were also bolstered by a lower middle-order century – from 23-year-old Remembrance Nyati, whose 118 and Solomon Mire’s 52 pushed Rhinos beyond 300. Eagles’ opener Simbarashe Gupo posted a half-century and captain Forster Mutizwa made 42 at No. 3 but they soon found themselves at 144 for 5, in danger of conceding a big lead before Hall intervened. At 270 for 7, either side could still have grabbed that lead, but No. 10 Trevor Garwe stood firm with a 41 to assist Hall in guiding Eagles past the Rhinos’ total.In the second innings, Rhinos’ top order was in top form: Gary Ballance made a century, his opening partner, Friday Kasteni, made 56 and captain Vusi Sibanda contributed a brisk 57. Rhinos declared at 294 for 4, leaving Eagles a target of 292. Mutizwa blasted 84 at nearly a run-a-ball but there weren’t enough overs for Eagles to get near the target, finishing on 187 for 5 in 52 overs.

ولكن في الشوط الثاني رغم سيطرة الماكينات وكثرة الفرص للتسجيل في مرمى اليابان إلا أن الحارس، شويشي جوندا، كان متألقًا مع دفاعات فريقه.

حتى جاءت الفرصة في الدقيقة 75 من البديل، ريتسو داون، الذي سجل هدف التعادل في شباك مانويل نوير وألمانيا.

وبعد مرور 8 دقائق فقط، استطاع البديل الآخر تاكومو أسانو من تسجيل هدف صادم وقاتل في مرمى ألمانيا بتسديدة صعبة من زاوية مستحيلة لتسكن الشباك وتعلن الهدف الثاني لمنتخب اليابان.

بهذه النتيجة، تتصدر اليابان المجموعة الخامسة بثلاث نقاط في انتظار مباراة إسبانيا وكوستاريكا التالية في تمام الساعة السادسة مساءً بتوقيت “القاهرة”.

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is considering an offer from Crystal Palace, according to The Times.

The Lowdown: January offers

The Eagles were after Nketiah’s services during the January window and made two bids for the striker.

However, as we know, the 22-year-old remained at the Emirates and has continued to play second fiddle to Alexandre Lacazette in recent months.

Nketiah has been handed rare starts in the Gunners’ last two Premier League fixtures due to Lacazette’s absence and scored twice in a 4-2 win over Chelsea on Wednesday.

The Latest: Palace offer

The forward is out of contract in a matter of months, and according to The Times, is now considering offers from Palace and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Arsenal haven’t given up hope of Nketiah signing a new deal, but the striker knows that Mikel Arteta is planning on bringing in at least one forward in the summer.

The Verdict: Shrewd move

Nketiah, who Arteta labelled as ‘extraordinary’, showed his quality in front of goal in the week, and still just 22 years of age, a free transfer to Selhurst Park could be an inspired piece of business from Patrick Vieira, Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman.

He has contributed to eight goals in just 784 minutes of action this season and can play anywhere across a front three, so clearly has ability and versatility which could prove useful if afforded more opportunities.

Reports in recent months have claimed that Christian Benteke could be on the way out this summer, so Nketiah may well be the perfect replacement for the Belgian in Vieira’s exciting young side.

West Bromwich Albion have conceded their chances of getting promoted back into the Premier League next season after failing to sustain their charge for automatic promotion and slipping out of the play-off spots – the Baggies now currently lie in 13th in the Championship.

Bruce has been full of praise for Taylor Gardner-Hickman and his progress in the team saying;

“He has done very, very, well for us in midfield. He’s young. He’s desperately eager to succeed. He is one of our own and that always goes down well.

“He has had a decent start to his career. And we’re looking at big things for next season.”

The 6 foot 1 ace who was hailed “menacing” and “a cut above the rest” by journalist Joe Ellis, has been in fine form since becoming a more consistent starter for his boyhood club in the Albion senior team this season.

Gardner-Hickman has won the majority of his ground duels (55%), is successful in the majority of his dribbles (53%) and has made 2.2 tackles, 0.7 key passes and 0.6 interceptions on average per game in his 19 Championship appearances, proving that he clearly has the potential to offer a lot to his team next season as they push for promotion.

The 20-year-old secured his long term future with the club by signing a contract back in December that extends his stay at the club for another four-and-a-half years, so judging by Bruce’s comments the plan is to fully integrate him into the team with the youngster able to offer his services in both a full-back and right midfield position.

There is no doubt the future is bright for Gardner-Hickman but the West Brom manager will have his work cut out to improve and rebuild the team following a disappointing season to inspire better quality performances and positive results next season to compete for their opportunity to climb out of the Championship.

Porém, um ônibus circular passava pelo local no momento do incidente e a diretoria pediu ao motorista que ajudasse a delegação a chegar ao estádio. Entre risadas, jogadores e comissão técnica seguiram no coletivo e brincaram no desembarque.

– O ônibus travou – disse Itair Machado, vice-presidente de futebol do Cruzeiro.

O presidente Wagner Pires de Sá aproveitou o momento de diversão para comentar que o técnico Mano Menezes ficou no banco do cobrador e ainda queria cobrar a tarifa de R$ 3,10 para os jogadores.
