Duelo entre treinadores da nova geração

O duelo dentro de campo será quente, mas fora de campo o confronto também é especial. A final da Copa do Brasil reserva o embate entre dois dos melhores técnicos da nova geração do futebol brasileiro.

Do lado Colorado, Odair Helmann, de 42 anos, foi tetracampeão gaúcho como auxiliar em2013, 2014, 2015 e 2016 pelo Inter. Em paralelo com o trabalho no clube gaúcho, foi auxiliar da Seleção Brasileira nas Olimpíadas do Rio-2016, conquistando o inédito ouro olímpico. Agora como treinador principal do Colorado desde 2018, está realizando uma excelente campanha no ano, chegando ás quartas da Libertadores (eliminado pelo Flamengo) e a final da Copa do Brasil.

Já no Furacão, muitos consideram o treinador Tiago Nunes, de 39 anos, como o maior responsável da mudança de patamar do Athletico no cenário do futebol nacional. Com ele no comando, o Furacão venceu a Copa Sul-Americana de 2018, o primeiro título internacional da história do clube. Nesta temporada, foi campeão da Copa Suruga no Japão e tem a chance de conquistar o titulo inédito da Copa do Brasil.

Título inédito e fim do jejum

A conquista da Copa do Brasil vale muito para ambas as equipes. O Athletico busca o seu primeiro título na história da competição. A melhor campanha da equipe paranaense foi em 2013, quando chegou à final do torneio, sendo derrotado pelo Flamengo na decisão.

O Internacional busca acabar com um jejum de 24 anos sem vencer o torneio. O último titulo do Colorado foi em 1992, quando venceu o Fluminense na final. Foi a primeira e única conquista do clube gaúcho da Copa do Brasil.

A Arena da Baixada recebe o duelo de ida, nesta quarta-feira, às 21h30. O Beira-Rio será o palco da grande decisão, no dia 18, também às 21h30. Cada estádio tem seu estilo particular e são diferentes até no tipo de grama. Mas os dois costumam fazer valer o fator local para as duas equipes. Tanto Athletico quando Inter somam quase 80% de aproveitamento como mandantes na temporada.

As semifinais foram prova de que, em casa, as duas equipes são muito fortes.O Inter já havia vencido o Cruzeiro no Mineirão e goleou no Beira-Rio: vitória por 3 a 0. O Athletico, por sua vez, foi épico. Devolveu a derrota por 2 a 0 da ida e venceu o Grêmio nos pênaltis por 5 a 4 em uma noite para entrar ma história da Arena da Baixada.

Premiação milionária

Além da chance de escrever o nome na história, o título vale uma premiação milionária para Athletico Paranaense e Internacional. O campeão leva R$ 52 milhões. E o vice, R$ 21 milhões. Athletico e Inter já somam R$ 12,3 milhões só em premiações. Ou seja, o campeão vai faturar R$ 64,3 milhões, uma grana importante para ambas as equipes.

Broncas da torcida à parte, a manhã desta sexta-feira foi especial para Rodrigo Caio. O zagueiro do Flamengo foi convocado pelo técnico Tite para defender a Seleção Brasileira nos amistosos contra Senegal e Nigéria, nos dias 10 e 13 de outubro, respectivamente, em Singapura.

Esta é a nona convocação de Rodrigo Caio para a Seleção principal. O jogador de 26 anos, que havia sido chamado pela última vez para os duelos contra a Rússia e Alemanha, em março do ano passado, já foi utilizado em quatro jogos e, em todos, saiu de campo com a vitória.

Muito feliz pelo retorno para defender a Amarelinha, o defensor agradeceu a nova oportunidade dada pela comissão técnica do time canarinho e dedicou o momento aos companheiros de clube e aos seus familiares.

– Nunca escondi de ninguém que um dos meus objetivos era voltar para a Seleção Brasileira. É sempre uma honra representar o nosso país e fico feliz em ser chamado novamente – afirmou, em nota emitida através de sua assessoria de imprensa, completando:

The loser could qualify, too, but that would depend on the unlikely scenario of West Indies losing to UAE. Ireland, with their relatively poor run-rate, almost certainly need to win, while if Pakistan lose, their qualification will depend on the NRR comparison with West Indies.An abandonment would also send both Ireland and Pakistan into the next round.The further context is that Ireland are both fighting to develop cricket in their own country and for the reputation of Associate cricket. Much has already been said about the rights and wrongs of the ICC’s decision to reduce the 2019 World Cup to 10 teams, but if Ireland can progress while two Full Member nations exit, they will have made their point more eloquently, more powerfully, more persuasively than any words.In the grand scheme of things, Ireland might take credit for going so far whether they win or lose. They might take credit for overcoming their poor form in the warm-up games – they lost to a grade side in Sydney and Scotland in Blacktown – and a modest seam-bowling attack acutely lacking in pace.But such is their ambition, such is their determination, that anything less than a quarter-final place at this stage would be considered a disappointment.They have a tough task. After a poor start to the tournament, Pakistan have won three games in succession and look far stronger in the field and with the bat, for the inclusion of Sarfraz Ahmed and Younis Khan. Their seam attack includes the trio of left-arm pacemen Wahab Riaz who has bowled the quickest delivery in the tournament, Rahat Ali, who is conceding his runs at an average of only 3.82 an over, and the towering Mohammad Irfan. It might be best described as daunting.In the long-term, Pakistan might worry about who replaces Younis at No. 3, who replaces Misbah at No. 4 – and as captain – and who replaces Shahid Afridi, who seems to have been playing for Pakistan since the dawn of time.But the long-term can wait. In the spotlightThe reason confusion continues to surround the exact height of Mohammad Irfan is that he is simply too tall to measure. Some say he eats three James Taylors in a bun each breakfast and brushes his teeth with a fir tree plucked from a mountainside. He could, he says, write a book on the difficulties of fitting into hotel beds and airplane seats. Quite a dull book, perhaps, and one he would keep on an impossibly high shelf. While it remains a struggle to keep him fit – his buttocks are currently causing him some discomfort – his pace, his height and his left-arm angle create significant difficulties for any batsman. While teams in the early stages were happy to simply see him off, the decision to include an extra bowler in the Pakistan side has forced batsmen to take a more aggressive approach against him. They rarely succeed.While Ed Joyce remains the key batsman, the form of Andy Balbirnie has been hugely encouraging. A year ago Balbirnie, an elegant 24-year-old batsman, would barely have warranted mention in Ireland’s top 20 players. But he flourished on the acclimatisation tour of Australia and New Zealand before Christmas and has continued his development in this tournament with impressive innings against South Africa – when he made 58 – and Zimbabwe – when he made 97.Teams newsPakistan report a fully fit squad, but there seems a good chance they will go into the game unchanged. There is talk of them recalling spin bowling all-rounder Haris Sohail, but it is not easy to see where he would fit in. There may also be a temptation to play the legspinner, Yasir Shah, with a view to exploiting Ireland’s perceived weakness against spin, but Misbah played down both possibilities. Galiotte também comentou sobre um lance da partida entre Flamengo e São Paulo, no sábado, em que Gabigol pisou em Daniel Alves, mas na ocasião, o episódio não gerou punição por meio do VAR.

– Até vou citar o lance aqui porque, enfim… É uma situação desconfortável demais para o futebol. O Felipe Melo toma cartão em absolutamente todas as jogadas. Ontem, o Gabriel pisou (em Daniel Alves, do São Paulo), e o VAR não foi pedido – comentou.

– Em muitos lances, é só vocês fazerem um levantamento, o VAR não tem atuado em jogos do Flamengo, isso é fato. Ontem foi um exemplo. Tem o jogo do Internacional também no Maracanã. A gente vem a público pedir uma arbitragem que apite igual para todos.
