They know what has been really going well for them, what their strengths are.”While he is satisfied with how the XI is looking, Dhoni said, he is also still waiting to see how Shami’s recovery progresses; Nehra has “done very well” for the team but might be replaced by Shami if the latter can get fit in time. Ashish is the only slot, but to replace Ashish would be very tough. The reason being he has done very well for us, he has moved the ball around. But Shami will have to prove his fitness in the warm-up games. He was the most expensive of their specialist bowlers though, conceding 7.07 runs per over, with his poorest returns coming in the final where he took 1 for 33 in his three overs.

Sri Lanka Cricket has launched a ‘Super Under-19 Provincial Tournament’ to function as a sturdy link between schools cricket and senior cricket. The tournament will be contested between ten teams over three weeks, starting from April 19. Each side will play four two-day matches in the group stage, before the leaders in each group progress to a three-day final, to be played at Khettarama from 10-12 May.”We have to invest into youth cricket, which we haven’t done enough,” SLC president Thilanga Sumathipala said. “We used to see a lot of schoolboy cricketers knocking at the door of the national team, at the age of 18 or 19, but now we don’t see that. We have a huge quantity of schools cricket, but we haven’t focused on the quality. So we have concentrated the best players from that system here, in order to consolidate our cricket at that age group.”The Western (Basnahira) province will produce three Super U-19 teams, as the “density of cricket in the Western province is more”, while Sabaragamuwa does not get a team, because SLC believes there is not enough cricket there to support a side. Players from the Sabaragamuwa province will instead be split between the Uva and Central Province sides.Sumathipala said there was also scope for the weaker provincial sides to absorb the reserve players from stronger provinces, in order to bolster their outfits. The tournament is expected to cost 26 million rupees (approx. USD $180,000).

South Africa do not need to panic about the decline in the national cricket team’s performances or the structures lower down but do need to devise steps for improvement, according to CSA’s general manager of cricket, Corrie van Zyl.Van Zyl, a former national caretaker coach, is one of the people involved in plotting South Africa’s revival and does not believe they are that far away from seeing success again despite Tuesday’s news that the Test team has slipped to No.6 on the rankings having been top four months ago.”I am not worried about South African cricket to be honest. Some of our performances this season, I could explain. It wasn’t nice to see but I could understand them,” van Zyl said at the launch of the Africa T20 Cup in Cape Town. “For example, Dale Steyn was not available for a big part of the Test series and we had three youngsters that bowled so there was inexperience.”Yet there was an opportunity for them to come through and look how Kagiso [Rabada] came through. Where I would have been worried is if we didn’t have the Kagiso’s and Chris Morris’ coming through. That would have been a different story.”In the 2015-16 season South Africa lost successive Test series against India and England, with Steyn missing three-quarters of the matches, and crashed out of the World T20 in the first round. Their dramatic descent prompted CSA to enlist the services of 1995 World Cup-winning rugby captain Francois Pienaar, who is part of a four-person panel conducting a review into national team performance, and to put together a separate 14-person group to investigate the state of domestic cricket.Van Zyl is not on either committee but, as someone intricately involved with development, is certain to have some input and the message he will deliver is that things are not as bad as they may seem.Despite his optimism, van Zyl admitted South Africa have to do some soul-searching about how to turn those individual successes into team triumphs. “I’m not turning a blind eye to our performances. We have to go and look at it and ask how can we do better and we have the reviews to look at that,” he said. “We must be totally open and say let’s see what the review brings. It’s an opportunity for us to research whether change is possible and whether change would be good or not.”Part of the changes at the international level could involve the coaching department, where Russell Domingo’s job has come under the microscope. Lower down, the spotlight is trained on whether the current franchise system is strong enough and perception, especially among former players, is that it is not.Van Zyl is specifically tackling this and has so far not found anything alarming. “A lot of things are built on perception, even this thing of there is no depth. We can’t work on perception” he said. “I have just looked at stats and performance benchmarks – things like how many batsmen have been scoring above 45, how many bowlers are averaging less than 24 and going for less than six runs an over, as examples -and what we do is track the depth and pull it back over a number of years. We see fluctuations over the five years. It’s not that we now seeing a huge dip or a huge decline in standard.”One of the things van Zyl discovered is that the number of first-class matches ending in three days instead of four was up last season but something similar happened three years ago. He is in the processes of understanding why the first-class competition yielded those results and coming up with solutions to avoid it happening again.”If there is a little bit of a decline we mustn’t say it’s just a trend, we need to ask what we can do to change it. Do we need to improve our coaching to improve performances again? Was it pitches?,” van Zyl asked. “We have built in very specific measures to see how things are going and we build strategy on that. It’s important in any sport that when you build strategy you build it on something concrete.”Once South Africa have a clear roadmap to redemption they will begin implementing it for the 2016-17 season, which starts earlier than usual. New Zealand visit for two Tests in August before Australia play ODIs in South Africa, then there are three Tests in Australia and a home series against Sri Lanka.Does van Zyl think South Africa can climb the rankings again?”I have no doubt that we will be there again,” he said. “I’m not a prophet of doom and I suppose in my position I can’t be but honestly, I know we have talent in this country. Of that there is no question.”

Com isso, o Tricolor entra para história da modalidade como o primeiro Clube de Futebol profissional a apoiar uma equipe de Futebol em Cadeira de Rodas (Power Soccer) no Brasil.

O time, comandado pelo técnico David Xavier, disputou o Campeonato Brasileiro em 2014, 2016, 2017 e 2018. Em 2019, na oitava edição da competição, o Noho, que agora se chama Fortaleza Power Soccer, terminou em segundo lugar.

– Desde agosto vínhamos conversando com a equipe e firmamos a parceria em novembro. Esse apoio é importante pois, com a visibilidade que um clube como o Fortaleza tem, pode ajudar a modalidade a crescer cada vez mais no Brasil. Como já existia um time dentro do estado que é competitivo e organizado, ficamos felizes em tê-lo como parceiro do clube – explicou o presidente do Leão do Pici, Marcelo Paz.

O que é o Power Soccer ?

O Power Soccer (Futebol em Cadeira de Rodas) surgiu na França, em 1978, com o objetivo de reabilitar jovens com deficiências severas. A modalidade passou por aperfeiçoamentos por mais de 20 anos, até tornar-se oficialmente um esporte. Em 2006, na França, foi criada a FIPFA (Federação Internacional de Futebol em Cadeira de Rodas), que unificou as regras do jogo. No ano seguinte, o esporte já teve sua primeira Copa do Mundo, que aconteceu em Tóquio, no Japão.

Na América do Sul, o Brasil foi pioneiro na modalidade. O esporte chegou ao Ceará em meados de 2014, quando o atleta Tiago Pinto retornou de um intercâmbio nos Estados Unidos, aprendeu sobre o esporte e arrecadou fundos para montar o primeiro e único time de futebol em cadeira de rodas do Nordeste, o Noho Power Soccer.

Campeonato Brasileiro de Power Soccer

O Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol em Cadeira de Rodas é uma disputa organizada pela Associação Brasileira de Futebol em Cadeira de Rodas (ABFC) e segue as regras da Federação Internacional de Futebol em Cadeira de Rodas (FIPFA). Para participar da competição, os times precisam se credenciar e os atletas precisam estar aptos para a modalidade.

O Power Soccer é o único esporte que promove a inclusão de pessoas com deficiências mais severas. Os atletas devem ter diagnósticos como paralisia cerebral, miopatias, amputações, lesões medulares, entre outros que os façam manipular cadeiras motorizadas para a prática do jogo.

Os atletas são divididos em duas categorias: PF1 (maior comprometimento motor) e PF2 (comprometimento moderado). Cada equipe deve ter, no mínimo, dois atletas PF1 por partida. Os times podem ser mistos, ou seja, homens e mulheres podem jogar juntos. Idade também não é um problema, não há um limite para isso. As cadeiras utilizadas são motorizadas e chegam a 10Km/h. A bola do jogo também é diferenciada, medindo 32,5cm de diâmetro.

As equipes tem oito jogadores cada em seus elencos, com quatro titulares e quatro reservas, sendo um goleiro três atletas de linha. O jogo acontece em dois tempos de 20 minutos, com um intervalo de 10 minutos.

Not many, least of all the tourists, knew much of Aaron Beard when he ran in for the first ball of Sri Lanka’s trip to England, but he certainly knew how to draw attention to himself. With wickets in each of his first two overs, the 18-year-old Chelmsford-born schoolboy began his first-class career in dreamy fashion as he picked apart Sri Lanka’s top order.Beard, who has been with Essex since he was nine, ended with 4-62 as they were bowled out for 254. With the fourth ball of the match, after Angelo Mathews had opted to bat upon winning a not-terribly-fiercely-contested toss, Beard got one to nip away and take Kaushal Silva’s edge. Then, with the third ball of his next over, Beard had the other opener, Dinuth Karunaratne trapped in front by a full delivery.There is mitigation for not knowing much about Beard. Only the most eagle-eyed viewers will remember he was a substitute fielder for England during a 2013 Ashes warm-up here, aged just 15. That is a responsibility given to few, whatever the occasion.All Essex’s quietly-held hopes for him began to distil on a debut he will never forget. He does not turn 19 until October and is working under Graham Napier, a star pupil as Napier takes his Level 3 coaching qualification; Napier believes his charge has a wrist position of unusual quality.Worryingly, Beard has already had two major back operations, but here all the moving parts looked in fine working order again; he is not tall, but is relatively broad shouldered, and a repeatable, attractive action arrives at the end of a smooth run. He found some movement, both off the seam and in the air, while the yorker he castled Milinda Siriwardana with suggested he could enjoy success with a white ball too. Graham Ford, Sri Lanka’s coach, was suitably impressed.”It was an amazing day,” said Beard. “I was very nervous running in first up, but once you’ve bowled a couple of decent balls you settle and I was lucky to get my wicket in the first over. That eased the pressure completely. I wouldn’t have wanted to make my debut anywhere else than Chelmsford, definitely not. I went to school about six minutes up the road and first played for Essex in the under-9s.”I don’t actually remember the first wicket because my adrenalin was rushing so quickly and it was very surreal. I settled as I bowled more.”Beard’s exciting intervention apart, this was probably not how Sri Lanka imagined their first day of their tour of England. Having been spooked by England’s recent snow, the Sri Lanka’s were surprised to find that the sun blazing throughout – ice cream and increasingly salmon-coloured skin were abundant.There was even a chance for the attack Sanath Jayasuriya this week described as the “best attack in the world” to feel the sun on their backs. Kusal Mendis, who batted at first drop today, scored a fluent, at times extravagant 66, having found himself at the crease so early.Then Niroshan Dickwella, who came in as low as No.8, chanced his arm for the only other half-century, looking particularly good through the covers. Dickwella was left to swing, then slog, with the tail, which was mopped up by Moore’s seam after tea.Sri Lanka’s frustration continued as Nick Browne and Jaik Mickleburgh played attractively to guide Essex in sharing 76, before Dhammika Prasad got one to nip back from round the wicket at Browne, who played attractively on the drive after a slow start. Nightwatchman Moore attempted to guide Essex to stumps, but was bowled not offering a stroke to Shaminda Eranga.This, though, was emphatically Essex and Beard’s day. Sri Lanka – indeed, all of us – certainly know a bit about him now.

Quando a aquisição for confirmada, ele terá reajuste salarial e um vínculo válido por três temporadas, ou seja, até dezembro de 2022. Ainda não há previsão de anúncio do negócio.

A contratação de Igor está no orçamento para a temporada 2020,que será votado pelo Conselho Deliberativo no próximo dia 19, prevê em investimentos em aquisições de jogadores. O documento fala em R$ 21,5 milhões em compras de atletas, valor que pode variar de acordo com o que for arrecadado em vendas e com a redução de despesas do departamento de futebol.

O São Paulo se reapresenta em 6 de janeiro, no CT da Barra Funda, no dia seguinte parte para o CT de Cotia, onde o grupo deve ficar por cerca de dez dias para se preparar durante a pré-temporada. A estreia do clube no Paulistão será em 22 de janeiro, contra o Água Santa, no Morumbi.

O Botafogo começou bem a busca pelo título inédito da Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior. Com dois gols do atacante Ênio na segunda etapa, Alvinegro venceu o Visão Celeste-RN, por 2 a 0, na tarde desta sexta-feira, em Bauru (SP), em partida válida pela primeira rodada do Grupo 4.

Em sua segunda Copinha, o camisa 10 foi o destaque da equipe Sub-20 do Glorioso, comandada por Marcos Soares. O Botafogo é segundo colocado na tabela, atrás do Novorizontino, que venceu o Noroeste por 3 a 1 e leva vantagem em razão dos gols pró.

O jogo

O Botafogo teve dificuldades em superar a forte marcação do time do Rio Grande do Norte. O Alvinegro não conseguiu dominar as ações e teve dificuldades na criação. As melhores chances surgiram quando a equipe carioca explorou os lados do campo. O time quase abriu o placar com Renato e em um erro na saída de bola do goleiro potiguar, João Victor. Muito fechado, o Visão Celeste conseguiu dar alguns sustos no contra-ataque, com Bisneto e Marcelo, mas o goleiro Andrew brilhou e manteve o placar zerado.

No segundo tempo, a equipe nordestina sentiu o cansaço e passou a errar mais. O Botafogo chegava com perigo na bola parada e chegou a ter um gol anulado por impedimento, após um escanteio. Em cobrança de falta, aos 17 minutos,Wendel cobrou com categoria por cima da barreira, João Victor fez grande defesa, mas Ênio, bem colocado aproveitou o rebote para abrir o placar. Oito minutos depois, Michel acertou um chute forte de fora da área e o camisa 10 desviou para o fundo das redes para decretar o placar final.

O Botafogo volta a campo pela competição na próxima segunda-feira, contra o Novorizontino, às 17h (de Brasília). Visão Celeste e Noroeste, fecham a rodada, mais tarde, às 19h15.

Em 2019, o Botafogo caiu nas oitavas de final após ser derrotado por 1 a 0 para o Guarani. O Glorioso tenta o título inédito da competição.
