Spurs began this summer by sealing a permanent deal for versatile winger Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich, at the discounted rate of around £30 million, with the Frenchman already drawing praise from Frank, who’s excited to work with him.

“Very, very excited about Mathys signing with a permanent deal,” said Frank in his first interview as Spurs manager.

“I think he’s a very talented player that can play across the front four positions. He’s a goalscorer that we can develop even further to be more consistent in his all-round game but also to more consistently land in the right positions in the box. So I’m looking forward to it.”

Tottenham then made quite a left-field signing soon afterwards, sealing a £5 million deal for Kawasaki Frontale defender Kota Takai, with chairman Daniel Levy green-lighting a J-League record move for a Japanese player.

He was identified by technical director Johan Lange as a promising young starlet who could make a Premier League impact similar to the likes of Pape Sarr, Destiny Udogie and Lucas Bergvall, so supporters could expect to see him in and around the first team next season (Alasdair Gold).

While Takai boasts a decent level of experience as a 20-year-old, having played a key role during Frontale’s run to the Asian Champions League final last season – helping to thwart Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr in the semis – Spurs fans will still be eager to see bigger names come through the door.

Son Heung-min could leave Tottenham after 10 years this summer, with Saudi sides expressing a keen interest. If the Lilywhites legend does depart, Frank will need a proven replacement, which has perhaps contributed to their interest in West Ham star Mohammed Kudus.

According to reliable media sources, Spurs talks for Kudus are underway between all parties (Fabrizio Romano), with reports suggesting that the “underrated” Ghanaian has emerged as a top target.

GiveMeSport reported earlier this week that Levy has even contacted West Ham chairman David Sullivan for talks over a potential deal for the 24-year-old, starting the bidding at £50 million.

Now, journalist Graeme Bailey has told TBR Football that the Hammers will demand around £60 million for their most sellable summer asset, but his desire to make a move to N17 is clear.

While both Arsenal and Chelsea have held talks, and he’s likely open to both clubs, Kudus sees Tottenham as a “great opportunity” and really wants to join Frank’s side before deadline day.

To date, Spurs are also the “most advanced” in their approach for the former Ajax star, with Bailey also reiterating that Levy is indeed in contact with Sullivan regarding Kudus’ transfer.

If the two sides can agree a fee, it would be their first deal since Scott Parker’s move to Tottenham in 2011 – ultimately ending their 14-year unofficial transfer embargo.

The Yorkshire side are wasting no time in getting their next signing through the door, as according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds are close to signing Bornauw from Wolfsburg. It is reported that the Whites have agreed to pay an initial fee of €6 million, which is roughly £5 million.

Leeds are preparing to offer the defender a four-year contract at Elland Road, which could be signed soon. After an injury-hit season last term, the Bundesliga side are taking their final chance to cash in before his deal expires next summer.

Leeds leading Fulham in race to sign Caci

According to BILD’s print edition (30/06/25), relayed by Leeds United News, Leeds are also interested in signing Anthony Caci from Bundesliga side Mainz 05.

The report states that while Jayden Bogle appears to be irreplaceable, Leeds are on the lookout for squad depth, and Caci is a player the Championship title winners like. In fact, not only do Leeds like Caci, but they are leading the way when it comes to signing him, as they can offer him more first-team guarantees ahead of Fulham, who are also interested in signing the right-back.

It goes on to add that Leeds are ready to “dig at” Caci, and they could land the former France under-23 international for just £8.5 million.

The 27-year-old, who has been dubbed “fantastic” in the past, has entered the final year of his contract with the German side, and despite Caci missing just one league game throughout the whole of last season, Mainz would rather receive money for their key defender than see him leave for nothing if a new deal isn’t agreed.

It is unclear what sort of fee Tottenham would be looking to receive for Bissouma, who they signed from Brighton & Hove Albion for £25m back in 2022, but he has been on the north Londoners’ discard list for quite some time, indicating that a deal could be possible.

Ahead of his side’s return to the Premier League, it may also be wise for Farke to bring in players who are proven in the top flight over a sustained period of time, and the Ivory Coast-born midfielder certainly ticks that box, having made 191 Premier League appearances.

It remains to be seen whether Bissouma would be willing to move to a newly-promoted side, fresh off the back of winning the Europa League with Spurs, but the prospect of receiving more game time could be appealing to the central midfielder.

Burnley will head back into the Premier League desperate to stay there for the long term, with Scott Parker also having plenty to prove as a top-flight worthy manager.

Parker has now impressively sealed three promotions up to the big time on his managerial CV, but he’s never looked like the most comfortable figure plying his trade in the top-flight away from the Championship, with a dire 30 defeats next to his name when managing at the elite level.

He will no doubt be eager to prove all his doubters wrong from the Turf Moor hot-seat, but he will be very aware that any chance he has of establishing himself as a top manager at the level will rest on the newly promoted side keeping talents such as Josh Brownhill around.

Why Burnley must keep Brownhill

Jumping up a division and staying put there is going to be a very difficult ask for Burnley, especially when you weigh up the ongoing fate that every newly promoted side that triumphantly tastes promotion immediately falls straight back to the EFL.

That’s before you further factor in the grim fact that Burnley could lose a large portion of their promotion-winning heroes this off-season, with 18-goal star Brownhill allegedly on the summer shopping lists of both Everton and West Ham United.

Losing their beloved captain to a top-flight rival would be nothing short of disastrous for Parker’s men, with Brownhill’s 18 strikes and six assists across 44 league games undoubtedly playing a huge part in Burnley’s push back up to the top-flight.

The in-demand 29-year-old has also shown he can perform up a level previously, with six goals and six assists next to his name in the Premier League to date, meaning he could be just the steadying presence the Lancashire club need to try and secure survival.

Away from Brownhill, Burnley will also need to ensure they keep their formidable defence around to try and stave off relegation, with one stern Clarets defender actually boasting a higher worth than the electric midfielder now after a breakout promotion-winning season.

The "exceptional" Burnley star worth more than Brownhill

Remarkably, across the full 46-game marathon, Burnley would only ship a minuscule 16 goals in total, leading to first-choice goalkeeper James Trafford reprotedly being on the radar of Newcastle United.

He isn’t the only defensive star being eyed up by a higher suitor, however, with Crystal Palace also reportedly keeping tabs on Clarets number 16 Maxime Esteve, after the French colossus looked near faultless all season long alongside Trafford.

The former Montpellier man would deservedly slot into the Championship team of the season, with Esteve operating as both a classy performer on the ball with 60.5 accurate passes averaged per league game, but also acting as a forceful presence when needed by picking up a whopping 30 clean sheets.

Unsurprisingly, off the back of such a sterling individual season alongside his standout teammates, Esteve’s transfer value has shot up, with Burnley definitely winning themselves a golden bargain when purchasing the 22-year-old for around the £12.5m mark just last year.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, speaking to The Boot Room, £195,000-per-week Chelsea winger Christopher Nkunku is actively looking to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Frenchman, who’s actually scored 14 goals in all competitions this season, verbally agreed terms over a move to Bayern Munich in January (Florian Plettenberg), and looks set to be one of the many men sold or loaned out by Enzo Maresca’s side when the window reopens.

Bailey writes that, while a move to Europe is more likely, Nkunku’s camp have reached out for talks with Tottenham recently, as the ex-RB Leipzig sensation’s representatives attempt to offer him to a host of clubs.

“I am told that a move to Europe is the most likely option – but his people are touching base with clubs in England,” said Bailey.

“Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Tottenham have all been spoken to in the past few months. Chelsea want to recoup as much of their plus £50m outlay, but that looks difficult at this juncture.

“I am told the player is very happy in London, and so would a move to a Arsenal or Tottenham appeal? I believe it would but as it stands those options are not advanced – but Arsenal and Spurs both have an historic interest in the player. Both want a wide forward, so you could see the fit.

“There is interest back in Germany – Bayern Munich like him, a new deal for Leroy Sane doesn’t rule out them making a move but it is not pressing. Former club RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen also admire him.”

The versatile 27-year-old has displayed real quality on occasion since his switch to London, and was a revelation in the Bundesliga. However, this could prove to be a costly operation, especially for a price around £50 million, not to mention his lofty salary.

With Spurs in for a ‘sell to buy’ summer, as per The Telegraph, these factors may well deter Levy.
