Tottenham pivot to Morgan Rogers! Spurs make Aston Villa star their 'priority transfer target' after being usurped by Arsenal in Eberechi Eze race

Tottenham Hotspur have shifted their focus to Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers after missing out on Eberechi Eze, with the winger now their new ‘priority target’. Spurs have already made contact with intermediaries to explore a potential deal, but the Villans remain reluctant to sell their prized asset unless a huge bid comes in as they continue to struggle with PSR compatibility.

claim Tottenham have made Rogers their main target after Arsenal hijacked their deal for Crystal Palace's Eze. Initial contacts have been made to assess the chances of a deal for Rogers, though Villa remain firm in their stance. The 21-year-old recently won the PFA Young Player of the Year award, strengthening his value even further.

Villa do not want to lose Rogers, who is tied down until 2030. However, financial constraints and previous UEFA fines for overspending could eventually push them to consider a sale. Spurs’ problem is that Rogers may cost more than Eze, with figures above £80 million ($107m) already being discussed.

Tottenham’s interest comes amid growing frustration at their transfer struggles. They missed out on both Morgan Gibbs-White and Eze, while a £67m move for Savinho also faltered. Spurs are also tracking Maghnes Akliouche, Tyler Dibling and even Xavi Simons as alternatives to strengthen their attack.

Spurs and Thomas Frank must now decide if they are willing to meet Villa’s huge demands. A formal bid could tempt Unai Emery's side into talks, but it would require a club-record outlay. With pressure mounting on the board, Tottenham may be forced into a decisive move soon.

Gabriel Maduro?

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

first revealed that Eze had called the Arsenal boss in a final hope to find out if a move to the Emirates was still possible. If the answer was not positive, he may have been a Spurs player by now. But once the Gunners were back at the table, due in part to an injury to Kai Havertz, a move to hijack the Lilywhites' deal was finalised within 24 hours.

  • WHAT ARTETA SAID

Arteta said, when asked if it was true Eze called him: "That shows you how much he wanted to come. It's very different sometimes because you want to be very open and transparent with the players as they have to make decisions in their careers but I'm delighted to have him. I'm delighted to have him, I can tell how much it means to him and his whole family."

Eze could make his Arsenal debut at Anfield in a true baptism of fire on August 31, as last season's top two face off in an intense early-season clash. While the 27-year-old will no doubt relish every opportunity to play for his boyhood club after making his dream move, the chance to affect the game against a direct title rival will be an impact Eze would be eager to make – particularly if the Gunners are without injured pair Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.

Yorke, who played for Villa before becoming a Treble winner with United, has told : “Emi Martinez has a big personality, there's no two ways about that. He's won the World Cup, he's one of the best at saving penalties, and he's got character – he's got everything.  Ideally, I thought we were going to get him because at one stage it looked like he was dead certain to be going to United.

“He probably tried to force that move, but for some reason it didn't materialise, which in my opinion is a bit of a disappointment. However, Villa is also a club that I'm very familiar with, so whether he stays at Villa, I think it's a good move for him as well. But I'm sure United would love to have him.”

Arsenal in fresh talks to sell defender as Porto make approach ahead of summer transfer deadline

Arsenal have reportedly entered fresh talks with FC Porto over the future of Jakub Kiwior, with the Portuguese giants pushing to secure the Poland international before the transfer deadline. Porto have approached Arsenal with a proposal to sign Kiwior on loan with an obligation to buy, according to O Jogo. Crystal Palace are also monitoring the situation, but Porto are currently leading the race.

Kiwior has struggled for regular minutes at Arsenal since his arrival from Spezia and finds himself behind William Saliba, Gabriel, and Mosquera. With Arsenal and Arteta chasing domestic and European glory, Arteta needs a settled defensive unit, leaving Kiwior as a surplus option. A move to Porto could revive his career, offering him Champions League football and a starring role.

Reports from Portugal suggest Porto see Kiwior as a 'significant addition' who can add quality and depth to their backline. USMNT Transfers: Injury situation at AC Milan might force Yunus Musah to stay, Josh Sargent's price is rising and St. Louis reportedly interested in Griffin Yow

The USMNT Transfer Notebook tracks American player movements, with latest developments for those in the U.S. national team pool

The European transfer window is largely set to close on Sept. 1, which means it's business time for both clubs and players looking to potentially improve their circumstances. While much appears to be settled for players in the U.S. men's national team pool, there are still some uncertainties.

Yunus Musah was reportedly set to head to Atalanta, but a new development might force him to stay with the Norwich's Josh Sargent might be the most in-form striker in England right now, but his rising price tag means he might remain in the Championship.

And Griffin Yow has had difficulty finding a way out of Westerlo, but a return to the U.S. might be in the cards.

GOAL tracks all of the American player movements in the USMNT Transfer Notebook, a recurring feature covering the latest developments for those in the U.S. national team pool.

After reports of a complex transfer involving four teams, Musah appeared to be close to a reported $29.2 million move Atalanta. Then a training ground injury changed everything.

A collision between Mexico international Santi Gimenez and central midfielder Ardon Jashari resulted in an injury for Jashari. The Swiss international was determined to have a compound fracture in his right fibula. Milan had high hopes for the 23-year-old, for which Milan parted with a hefty sum of $43.1 million to Club Brugge.

Now with Jashari set to miss at least eight weeks, manager Max Allegri might be compelled to keep Musah, according to Sky Italia. The midfielder didn't play in Milan's opener, but he could factor a lot more following this development.

Yow's desire to leave Westerlo has been clear, but he's had difficulty finding suitors in Europe to secure a move. While his aim is to remain abroad, his contract is expiring next summer and it could spark interest from MLS.

According to Tom Bogert, one team to monitor is St. Louis CITY SC. The club has not met expectations following its inspired inaugural campaign, firing both two head coaches and its sporting director in the past two seasons. The club is expected to go after Yow next season if he doesn't find a suitor abroad before then.

Josh Sargent's strong run of form to start the season – scoring four goals in four games – has led to Norwich raising his price tag. The move has essentially locked in what they wanted: keeping their star striker.

Local outlet Pink Un expects Josh Sargent will stay with the club during this transfer window unless it is blown away by an offer it can't refuse.
